Arco Mediterraneo VI

Montemar Urbanisation

Arco Mediterraneo VI is on Urbanisation Montemar situated on the outskirts of the Spanish town of Algorfa , and just two minutes away from the prestigious golf resort of La Finca. The property is set in a secure gated development, the facilities include a fabulous communal pool with shallow children's pool attached, the pool is surrounded by a small wall, again with gated access, on three side and tennis courts to the other. There is also a children's playground and ball game courts next to the development, something to keep the whole family active and amused.

Montemar is a perfect base for a relaxing holiday, with beaches, mountains and amenities all within a short drive. The fantastic blue flag beaches of the Costa Blanca, Guardamar with a 13km stretch of golden sands, and others are within easy reach. To discover the 'Real' Spain , try exploring the nearby towns, such as Alicante , Murcia , Elche , Orihuela and Pila De Horada, each offering their own character and history. Then, after a hard day, come back and relax on the solarium, unwind by the pool or try out the superb restaurant and bar facilities nearby. There is a wide range of bars and restaurants to choose from within a short drive (Tapas, Spanish, English Bar, Hamburger, etc.) in nearby Algorfa, Benijofar, Quesada and Los Montesinos and a few kilometres further in Torrevieja are bars, restaurants, night clubs and a casino

Algorfa, the nearest town, is a typical Spanish town, with numerous small shops spread throughout the streets. There is also a market held on Wednesday in the central market square, and a larger one on the outskirts of the town on Sunday. The nearby town of Almoradi has an Aldi supermarket and Rojales has a Centrum Store. If you travel towards Torrevieja there is a huge range of supermarkets, a hypermarket (Carrefour), restaurants (Chinese, Thai, Indian, Etc.) all within a 15 minute drive. By going into Torrevieja itself, there is the port and seaside, bustling nightlife, and many more shops. The area is set in the Orihuela Nature Reserve, and is surrounded by orange and lemon groves interspersed with almond and olive trees. The large salt lakes of Torrevieja attract flamingos and wild birds. The surrounding cities include Murcia , Valencia and Alicante and all offer different delights to the visitor from historic buildings to modern artworks.

La Finca golf course is within a five minute drive making this area a Golfer's paradise, with not only is the superb La Finca course literally on your doorstep, but also numerous other high quality courses nearby, including Villa Martin, Las Rambles

Algorfa

The bungalow and the surrounding village of Algorfa is a very quiet, peaceful area. However, it is ideally situated a short walk away from the commercial centre (units to open from 2007) which will contain restaurants, shops and banks. The garden centre, just five minutes further on, offers a selection of gifts, as well as freshly picked oranges and lemons most of the year round! The club house located at La Finca at the bottom of the fairway has beautiful golf course views and can offer drinks, tapas and a full menu. A large supermarket is within a 10 minute drive.

The La Finca Golf course was designed by Pepe Gancedo and aims to host open championships. It is reported to be one of the best in the area and the reviews confirm this
Green Fees are around €72, but discounts are sometimes offered via golfing websites.
Within the local area, there are many other golf courses to try such as Las Ramblas, Villamartin and Campoamor. La Manga and the town of Murcia are not more than an hour away.

Set on the banks of the Segura River , in the Vega Baja valley, Algorfa is in the heart of richly fertile land and is an important citrus farming village. The Segura basin has less annual rainfall than anywhere else in Spain and the river is the life blood of the area – its waters have been channelled into thousands of irrigation ditches, the foundations of which were laid by the Romans and the Moors. Agriculture is of vital importance here – citrus, olive, and almond groves are everywhere as well as vineyards and other crops: Vega Baja produces the majority of Alicante 's fresh fruit and vegetables.

Algorfa has a population of just less than 2000 and their needs are well met with a supermarket, chemist, bars and restaurants, and a good range of shops. More amenities can be found in the popular resort of Torrevieja which is only a 15 minute drive away. Also nearby is the recreational area of La Pedrera, a haven for walkers and mountain bikers, with a network of trails, camping and barbecue areas.

The Costa Blanca

Driving from Algorfa in any direction will take you past a beautiful mountainous backdrop and through endless lemon and orange groves. The vibrant coastal town of Torrevieja is within 20 minutes drive and offers beaches, restaurants and shops and a water park. The blue flag beaches of Guardamar del Segura are only a 15 minute drive away and there are many more beautiful beaches within the local area. The historical Spanish towns of Orihuela and Elche are within half an hours drive away and there you can find churches, parks and local squares. Murcia , Cartagena and Alicante are also worth exploring, although a little further away. There are also several smaller towns close by, many of which hold a market – the largest of which is the Saturday market at Almoradi

The Costa Blanca or White Coast extends along the eastern coast of Spain (approximately in the middle) and covers the province of Alicante .

The area is not as cold or wet in the winter as the Costa Brava, north of Costa Blanca, nor is it as humid or hot in the summer as the Costa del Sol , in the south. It has the best all year round temperatures. The climate is recognised as one of the best in the world by the World Health Organisation. Many people with arthritis come to the here and feel the benefit of the climate almost immediately. In the winter months the Costa Blanca is fortunate to have nearly as many sunny days as in the summertime.

The region is renowned for its tourism. Once upon a time the places along the coast were mostly just tiny fishing villages. Gradually the fantastic climate and beaches attracted tourists and the area boomed. Many towns have restricted their development and retained their original charms.

There are over 100 kms of sandy beaches and rocky coves and many of the beaches have the coveted European Blue Flag signifying cleanliness and safe bathing. Those which should mot be missed include Guardamar, The Mar Menor and the rocky coves south of Torrevieja

Of course the charm of the area has meant that many non Spanish have moved here permanently and there has been a property explosion with many people regarding the Costa Blanca as the California of Europe. As well as people retiring here, many young families move to the Costa Blanca searching for a better lifestyle. Every nationality can be found here but especially English, Swedish and Germans (oh and some Spanish too!).

The north of the region is typically mountainous with cliffs and coves, a mixture of pebble beaches and fine sandy beaches. North of Altea is surprisingly green and lush. The south is mostly flat with fine sandy beaches, palm trees and salt lakes.

The Costa Blanca has something for everyone from tiny rural inland villages to cosmopolitan tourist resorts on the coast such as Benidorm.

There are many areas and buildings of historical interest including Castille de Santa Barbera, at Alicante . Part of the Costa Blanca's attraction lie in it's beauty - the amazing vivid blue Mediterranean waters, the lovely sandy beaches, the old towns and villages with their narrow streets, the restaurants and bars where one can sit and relax outside enjoying the wonderful all-year round climate. It is a wonderful place in which to enjoy life and feel rejuvenated and refreshed.

Travelling in the Area

The Costa Blanca is serviced by the A7 motorway which stretches from north to south slightly inland. The N-332 also runs parallel, and along the coast, although a much slower road as it passes through the middle of many towns. The roads in the Costa Blanca are good and well signposted for towns and villages and most local maps are clear and easy to read.

There are huge amounts of flights into Alicante airport, which is about a 30 minute drive from the bungalow, especially from Northern Europe . Valencia airport further to the north is also well serviced. To the south of the Costa Blanca is Murcia airport (St Javier) which is about a 40 minute drive from the bungalow. With the advent of many low-cost airlines many people live in Spain and commute to work in England . Flying time is only about 2 hours which often doesn't get you far when driving on congested roads in England .

There is off road parking, and gated entry onto the site. A communal pool is in the centre of the development with a tennis area next to it.
